About The Immersion Experience (TIE)

about tie

Come to GLV-you don't need to go abroad to learn English.

  • We offer a wide variety of courses to suit everyone's needs.
  • Each session is 2 weeks in length.
  • The first class begins on the 1st Sunday to give students an overview of studying in GLV.
  • All communication is in the target language.
  • We stress language use, and focus on speaking, listening, reading and writing skills.
  • Fluency and accuracy are both important and get due attention here.
  • Emphasis is on practical, skill-based activities.
  • We encourage individual students through building a friendly and supportive learning environment. We have high expectations.
  • Lesson content is centred on the needs and interests of students and delivered through a variety of media.
  • We develop and use materials, which meet the needs of our students.
  • We use realistic/authentic input, remembering that the most important resource are the students themselves.

THE ENGLISH PROGRAM

The English Program at GLV has three (3) components based on the Step Theory:

1). Skills Based English

- These classes are held in the mornings from Monday to Thursday. They are devoted to learning the structure and patterns of English using the New Interchange curriculum. Students have one teacher assigned to them (Skills Class Teacher). Review classes and tests are scheduled on Fridays.

2). Practice English

- Afternoon classes provide the students with an opportunity to explore the world through a variety of activities and listening materials with English as the tool of learning.

3). Real-World English

- These classes are called outings. Students decide on a place to go, such a park or a coffee bar and teachers organize different activities for students to use English or discussions about the learning journey in GLV.

SKILLS-BASED CLASSES

SKILLS-BASED CLASSES

The purpose of the Skills-based class is for the teacher to help the students learn and progress focusing on the skills in English (speaking, listening, reading and writing), getting the students ready to discuss a wide range of topics that they may not be familiar with, with the emphasis on helping the students to think critically in English, share their opinions and develop their communication skills. The maximum class size for the skills-based classes is 20 students.

English corners

In order to help students put what they’ve learned to use, we organize English corners and provide snacks. Students are divided into groups with a representative leading the topic and enjoying a natural conversation.

EVENING PROGRAM: REAL-WORLD ENGLISH

Learning method lectures

Students can join all kind of lectures about remembering vocabulary and foreign trade, etc. We always believe that “Give people fish and you feed them for one day, teach people how to fish and you feed them for a lifetime.”

CLUB PROGRAMS

Business course

Students come to GLV with different interests and purpose. We also offer business courses for those who would like to work in foreign trade. Students need to finish the survival English learning to set a strong foundation for this class.
