英语表达：底线不是"bottom line"！

记得有一次

村草跟外教讨论事情

他突然说了一句

That's my bottom line

这是我的底线？我说错了什么吗？

村草当场脑海中闪过各种画面

后来经过解释之后

原来这是一个天大的误会

Bottom line 不是 底线！

bottom line 的来源 

财务报表中最下面一行

即报表的结果行，显示盈亏状况

被老外称为 bottom line

所以bottom line

有2个含义

Bottom line = 关键因素

财务报表的结果行最重要

The bottom line is that we need another ten thousand dollars 

to complete the project.

关键是我们还需要1万美元才能完成项目。

②

That's the bottom line 

= 这是我最后要说的

盈亏是财务报表的最终结论
 

I won't sign the contract, and that's the bottom line.

我不会签这个合同，这就是我最后要说的

底线 = Limit

（我能忍的极限）

有人总惹毛你, 就这么警告他

Stop testing my limits! 

别再测试我的底线！

There's a limit to my tolerance of rude people.

我对粗鲁无礼的人，容忍是有限度的.

On the line 是在线吗？

从会用QQ时就知道

在线 = online

上线，开始活跃 = come online

On the line的意思是

处境危险；命悬一线

If I don't get enough contracts this month, my job will be on the line. 

如果这个月签的合同不够，我的工作就危险了。

In line 

= 排队的；有秩序的

People are waiting in line to enter the hall.

人们有秩序地排队等着进入大厅。

"排队"，"插队" 怎么说？

排队 = Form a line

（形成一条直线）

插队 = Cut in line

Please form a line, and get out quietly, Remember don't cut in line. 

请排好队，安静地离开。记住别插队。
